Himalaya: A Invenção do Sol
Seiva Trupe’s latest production blends fantasy and science in a tale of a shattered sun, dispersed into a spectrum of colors through an optical prism. Directed by Sandra Salomé with an original script by Pedro Leitão, the play will be staged at Sala Estúdio Perpétuo, featuring designs by Cristóvão Neto, Júlio Filipe, and a soundscape by Fábio Ferreira, Mafalda Covas, and Rui Noronha Ozorio.
Paying tribute to Padre Himalaya, a pioneer of solar innovation, the performance reflects on the role of science and creativity in addressing today’s challenges. With a 90-minute runtime and no intermission, it is an inspiring experience.
The design crafted by Dotgraf is inherently descriptive, drawing direct inspiration from the Sun and the Pirelioforo’s structure. At its heart is a white sun, a central element whose intrigue is heightened by the retro-futuristic vibe of the Pirelioforo.
The use of contrasting typefaces to compose the title mirrors the inventive process of creating a new sun. The result is a vibrant poster that sparks curiosity, inviting the audience to discover more about the visionary Padre Himalaya—a figure often compared to a Portuguese Nikola Tesla.
